Today it's 96°, so far. I've lost my appetite and it's making me sick. Too hot to even do chores, especially outside. We are also currently in a boil water advisory because water levels have reached a critical shortage. No rain for days and none in sight until a 40% chance June 4th. I fear that the worst is yet to come. Definitely dreading Dog Days*!

* 40 days
According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, the Dog Days of summer are traditionally the 40 days beginning July 3 and ending August 11, which coincide with the dawn rising of the Sirius, the Dog Star. This is soon after the Summer Solstice, which of course also indicates that heat will soon set in.
