2016 Postmortem

(6,591 posts)11. I always expected him to support Clinton
the fact that he is getting pressure BEFORE the SC primary - makes me think the internals for the Clinton camp just aren't as great as they thought they would be.
I don't think this is going to make much of a difference when I think most people already thought he had endorsed her.
There are still many younger African American SC state reps out supporting Sanders and they are already doing town halls and other meetings, some with Ben Jealous.
Personally, I found this part of the article very disturbing:
Former President Bill Clinton was accused of dismissing Obamas win because he was black, saying another black presidential candidate, the Rev. Jesse Jackson won the S.C. primaries in 1984 and 1988.
Clyburn said in his 2014 memoir that Bill Clinton called him on the night of the 2008 primary and blamed him for his wifes loss, quoting the former president as saying, If you bastards want a fight, you damn well will get one.
Regarding the incident eight years ago, Clyburn has said he had no hard feelings toward the Clintons.

It's true. Clyburn was quoted saying, "I'm pouting because someone on DU threw me under the bus."

Do you always make stuff up as if it is a fact? I don't know whether he called him or not.

Because if you announce all your endorsements in August then you have no control over the press

Clyburn said endorsing Bernie Sanders was implausible. See added comments above.

In the midst of all of this political turmoil, the power of endorsements is declining, IMO. n/t
