Hell, I'm with Clinton and against about 95% of DU on that. It's a very hard sell, but dodging it only makes it worse. I think if she had stuck to her guns on it she might have taken MI. Natural politicians know that the way to make a hard sell it to close it, not avoid it. And maybe you close and maybe you don't, but you don't avoid a hard sell.

The play for her, on trade, in Michigan, was to find a heavy plant manufacturer whose exports tripled after NAFTA (those exist; we built the factories Mexico used). Or even better find a longshoreman on a Lakes port who got his job as trade on the Lakes picked back up (that's probably the stronger play, honestly). I honestly think that would have sold a lot better.

Anyways. I can't get behind someone for President who's not a natural politician. Which is the problem.
