...I asked the Diebold trainer of election poll workers,'Are these machines connected to the Internet?' His answer? ' Did you see me hook a wire to this thing?' I kid you not, in the days where I sat with my wireless computer at home, this was his answer. As a result of my question, I was not asked to work in the upcoming election. The next election cycle came around and I received another announcement to attend training. I called the BOE and asked if they had too many workers last time because I hadn't been called and didn't want to go to training if they didn't need me. She said, 'I'm sure we needed you. We were short of people last election.' I asked to talk to her boss and she put Gerry on. I questioned him about why they hadn't called me to work at the last election and he responded, 'Kim we can't have you telling the people anything negative about the machines.' You see if someone speaks up they try to cut you from the herd. My response to Gerry was, ' Please call the people I have worked with. They want me there. I am as professional or more so than most of the crew.' Dead silence from Gerry and then he agreed that I would work the next election.

You can't expect people to do the right thing..you have to hold their feet to the fire. Most BOE's are just regular folk. They don't want any 'trouble' so they do what they are told. While the boards are local, they get their direction from the State. We need pencil and paper voting. We need President Carter to help clean up our elections like he has done around the world. We are a third world nation with nuclear bombs.
