If Venezuela can have (ok not lately, but originally) open source voting machines with inspection and approval by Carter and associated verification organizations, why the heck can't we? Corporations. Money. We should teach civics in the 10th or 11th grade and have seniors serve as poll monitors for credit. Election day should be a Holiday, the fact that it isn't already is a travesty. Paper ballots counted in a room with observers. Done the world over. It could be done digitally, but the physicalness of the experience, the written record, the eventual potential for compost... there are many things that paper ballots can offer. On top of that we need automatic registration when you turn 18. I'd also like to see compulsory voting (No idea how this would work, but i thought maybe you could pay $10 fine on your taxes if you choose not to vote)...
mini rant off/ sorry
