(761 posts)And nothing like a coordinated response from the Powers that Be with one of Hill's corporate BFF's supplying the megaphone. They're scared and they damn well should be. "Be civil while I shit on you, and then join us" isn't going to be tolerated. And it sure as hell isn't a winning strategy.
Back in January I said, as did many Bernie supporters at the time, that I was not going to vote based on fear any longer. Here we are in mid-May and all the Democratic establishment has for a message is "unify or else we will have Trump - it's all on you." No, it's not. Bernie supporters like me were very clear from the very beginning that we were looking for a candidate to vote FOR. What we saw in Nevada was frustration meeting its last straw.
Sure, tell me you don't need me to win in November. And express it with as much smugness as you can muster. Truth is, you do need me and voters like me. You can tell yourself we have no where else to go, but this time you are wrong. If you can't convince me to vote for your candidate, how are you going to convince independents? I'm lowing hanging fruit. Bernie is right, you could have invited his supporters in, it would have been uncomfortable for you, but it would have been the correct thing for the long term health of the party. Then I remember why the DLC/Third Way/Clinton wing of the party came into being in the 80's - to crush progressives, to repudiate New Deal policies, to curry favor from the economic elite. Well, curry on!
