(135,425 posts)I usually figure when someone is being either a "Tough Guy" or an "Asshole" on the internet, that they are using the anonymity of the venue to work out their own frustrations, and they have a pretty pathetic life. I suppose it's better than kicking the poor dog.
You won't change those people, but if you advertise that something bothers you, they'll take advantage of that emotion on your part and engage in goading/baiting to try to get a rise out of you, and then snicker gleefully if they can make that happen.
Best bet? Hit 'em with a dose of their own medicine, and then drop them like a bad habit. Call the dismisser a loser-dickweed-jerk, express your sympathy for his cluelessness, and move on smartly!
I happen to agree that all movement is good. If there's a corner of a red state that is blue, that can produce a Democratic House member. Fight every battle--even the unwinnable ones, because time and talk will eventually change hearts and minds.
