2016 Postmortem
In reply to the discussion: Diane Feinstein expects riots? [View all]Beacool
(30,520 posts)114. Philly granted four demonstration permits in support of Sanders at the convention.
If NV is any indication, does anyone really think that these rallies will be peaceful and everybody will be singing kumbaya? Particularly as we all know the outcome, Hillary will be the nominee. I don't expect Sanders to be as gracious as Hillary was in 2008. She released her delegates so that Obama could be nominated by acclamation. Obama's lead in pledged delegates and the popular vote was razor thin. Hillary is far ahead of Sanders on both counts. Yet, Sanders will probably continue to try to make his case on the convention floor. Since he was never a Democrat, I doubt that he cares about the party. Despite proclamations to the contrary, he also doesn't seem to care that he's indirectly helping Trump.

Protests do not = violence. But jiggering up expectation will lead protests to be viewed as violence

This is extremely suspect, and Feinstein should perhaps ask her husband's advice...
