but at the very least, why didn't they identify the people who supposedly wrote under the guise of "Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity".

Until there's actually some identifiable source that any legitimate news outlet would have vetted and validated their claims, this remains a work of fiction, or, considering the website you lifted it from, another rightwing conspiracy theory.
