The stuff on the Reagan-Bush "October Surprise" was declared "debunked" by the media back around '93, because certain facts were withheld from the public which Clinton would not pursue (the Russian intelligence, for example) and the investigating committee was anxious to close down....
then W. Bush got in office and immediately made a whole lot of files unavailable to the public, particularly concerning his father... Anyway, some evidence on the "October Surprise" didn't come out until fairly recently:

That's a great site, BTW, one might want to dig around in the archives. It was founded by
Robert Parry, who originally broke the Iran-contra scandal.
