In reply to the discussion: Let me know how this "harass Black people into voting for Sanders" campaign is working for y'all [View all]JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)... making it appear that his campaign is dismissive of these issues.
But you are not bright enough to figure it out.
Bernie can handle this entire thing very easily, and I suspect that he will. He's a bright guy.
But some of his loudest, angriest, Hillary hating supporters, not so much.
Bernie, while having been in congress for a long time, is pretty much unknown. And so, people can wonder where he stands on the distinction between social justice and economic inequality. And that has nothing to do with what some RW fool said. Its a legitimate question for people who are unfamilair with him, and O'Mally for that matter (notice O'Malley's supporters are not foaming at the mouth on this, odd huh?).
Now, Bernie talks about one of those two related issues a lot... economic inequality. Which is good. However, the GOP plays a game in which they ignore social justice, and describe the issues of the black community as stemming from economic inequality only, and not social injustice. Which is backwards.
So Bernie, can, and probably will, start to make the distinction. I suspect he gets it.
But his angriest and loudest supporters here on DU and outside, are too busy protecting their new Messiah to let him do that. instead, they've taken to the internet to dismiss the concerns of the African American community on this distinction. And African Americans who are not familair with Bernie, are hearing you, not him.
And here's what happens ... as you do that ... the African American community is hearing you dismiss them. Bernie is not dismissing them you are.
But because you are a loud supporter of his, claiming this is some sort of conspiracy or some such nonsense ... basically dismissing the concerns of the African American community ... your message is becoming HIS message.
Which politically, is not very smart.
