(45,251 posts)Blaming corporations leaves you nothing to do, unless you have enough money to buy a controlling interest. Blaming the politicians who sell out to them and pass laws that enable them, however, means you might be able to do something. So, blame the corporations.
Blaming Republicans and only Republicans leaves you nothing to do, as well. What's a Democrat to do about the Republican party besides mock or complain or devolve into helpless frustration and anger? If you see problems in your own party, though, well, maybe there is something you, as a Democrat, can do about that. So, blame Republicans and only Republicans.
Saying Democrats got pwned (allegedly) by Republicans because Democrats as a breed are fearful, too polite, etc. also leaves you nothing to do, unless maybe you have a map of the route to Oz. Saying it's D.C. kabuki however, may leave you with (gasp) course of action.
I am not saying that is everyone's way of posting, but it does seem to be the default for some. I think there is some of what you say in the scenarios I described. So, I get your great observations and insights about your friend. I think, too, that people just like to be comfortable. A lot of deviation from the status quo--even very positive change/deviation--apparently is a stress on our bodies/existence. Death of a spouse and marriage register about the same on our emotional/physical Richter scales.
However, in some cases, I just smelled an effort to convince readers of something that the poster knew to be bs from the jump.
