(2,078 posts)I didn't support it when some Sanders supporters railed against BLM for protesting the "wrong" person, and now I've seen Clinton supporters react the same way, and I don't support that either. It's not up to us to tell BLM which candidate is acting in their best interest. And as far as the hashtags you mentioned, BLM is not a monolithic group. The people who posted those tags for Sanders aren't the same people who staged a protest at the Clinton event. You're not going to get the same protest in the same way.
We really should take moment here and appreciate BLM for what it is. The people who posted those hashtags are the aggrieved party. We're not the ones who were harmed because we were made to feel uncomfortable. BLM has an agenda, one that I hope we would all agree with, and they are intentionally attempting to make the candidates, and by extension we supporters, uncomfortable.
This is a service they're doing for us, and we'd be best served by listening.
People are going to call Sanders supporters racist, sexist, BernieBros, whatever. So what. Let's focus on us being better and let people who hurl epithets be seen for what they are by their own actions, not by our reactions.
