(39,215 posts)crowd was angry and that the BLM protesters saw that as white supremacy. I am not denying that was the situation. That is very clear in the video. The meeting this took place in was not a Bernie meeting. But I question if this is actual white supremacy or just anger at being denied the opportunity to hear what they came to hear. Social Security is kind of a universal issue. Important to us all.
If this had been a Bernie meeting and the crowd of supporters had been angry BLM would have been totally justified in their accusations. If they had done the protest that evening at his meeting it would have been different.
Everyone who has a different opinion of a situation is not automatically a white supremacist. And the people who came to listen about social security did not see what BLM had to do with their meeting. And truthfully it did not have anything to do with it. Except that Bernie was there.
Many are claiming that Bernie did not make a good response. But we saw him almost immediately hire Symone Sanders who is a criminal justice expert and did exactly what BLM asked him to do - created a plan to work for this issue. BLM said it is a good plan. He has mentioned BLM and the issues involved every time he speaks. He has even presented some bills in congress even knowing that it was going to take a miracle to get them passed. If I am not mistaken he has a bill to end private for profit prisons in the works right now.
And yes some of us went way over the top defending Bernie in what many thought was a unfair protest at NRN because he was not even the leading candidate. I for one understood that this was an excellent plan to get the issue of police brutality in the headlines - probably would have worked better with Hillary since the papers were not even talking about him. But it did achieve the end of getting it front and center in the discussion.
I understand what you are angry about but I do not think you are correct in seeing us all as enemies.
