(449 posts)Sanders fans tearing down the DNC. Clinton fans tearing down Sanders.
Whose fault is it? Seems there's plenty of blame to go around. To Sanders' credit it's not like he told his staffer to access exposed Clinton data (most probably anyway). To Sanders' credit he fired the staffer who ordered people to take a look in inappropriate areas while the firewall was down. Still... I can't help but think that this is an overreaction from the DNC. If this was a Clinton staffer doing the same thing would the DNC have shut off her access to voter files? I doubt it, but we'll never know for sure.
Supposedly, the vendor was made aware of this flaw months ago. They should be held accountable as well.
Interestingly, when asked for comments on this whole ordeal Clinton's campaign declined. Why? It could be out of respect. It could be waiting for more information to come out. Or.... perhaps because this could boomerang back on her. The head of the vendor in question (NGP VAN) was also the Chief Technoloy Officer for the Clinton campaign in 2008. To be honest, Clinton's track record with digital security has been less than stellar. I'm sure she doesn't want people talking about her own issues digital issues, especially with her tied to NGP VAN.
Anyway... It seems like Sanders has taken the appropriate actions and if the DNC doesn't fix this soon they risk pissing off a lot of people. I've voted (nearly) straight democrat all my years in voting... The DNC is really making me reconsider that (Thanks, Debbie!).
