No, it never made it any better when I was actually prosecuting either. I really hate men like that. Cowardice. Betrayal of trust, of oaths if they were married. That's on top of the physical pain and constant fear and humiliation on the part of the victim.

He doesn't love you. If he did, he would not do this. It's not you, it's him.

Call the police. Use the law to be rid of him.

If the law won't listen, then flee. Take the kids with you. No, it isn't right, but it is better than ending up dead.

Because that is what will eventually happen. He will kill you.

Whatever the financial repercussions are for turning him in, they are better than ending up as a corpse.
