(113,807 posts)41. She had such a presence in the house, it does feel like she's still there sometimes...
In her last year of life, I knew she could go downhill quickly at any time, so I would jump out of bed to check on her, if she didn't come wake me first, always feeling that sense of relief when she would look up, seemingly fine. So, waking up is tough now... way too quiet. She was a herding dog, so sometimes I still feel as though I can sense her nudging and nuzzling my legs as she would do to get me going? And, I still find myself wanting to save a morsel of two of what I was eating for her, as I often would do.
Yes, it's pretty tough... Thanks for asking.
