I think this would promote a more cohesive forum because it would give people the chance to works things out with another member without fear of retribution and without posters being afraid to post because they could land on somebody's block list for a misunderstanding.

I really think members are fearful of posting in certain forums, like GD, because they don't want a public confrontation. This would be an option to have issues settled between members behind the scenes.
