(912 posts)As a cradle Democrat who has voted Democratic for 44 years I am saddened by the realization that the party I was a part of is no longer. I have decided after this election I will become an independent. I would never have foreseen this occurring! As it is I have stopped all donations to the establishment Democratic party and only donate now to Bernie and Ted Strickland. They sound so shocked when they call and I inform them I will direct my donations directly to those candidates who I feel are truly advancing Democratic ideals. I am sickened by their defense of the super delegates "deserving more of a voice" in the process and attempts to smack down the grassroots efforts of a portion of the party. And no more falling into line and voting for the "lesser of two evils" I am not going to betray my ideals for the party ever again. If they want my vote they will have to work for it. Finally at 65 years this woman has declared her independence. If it were not for voting in the primary for Bernie I would be out of the party already.
