Bernie Sanders

(72 posts)I agree with you about the democratic party. That's why it's ironic that I just registered as a Dem for the first time in 39 years, so that I can help Bernie try to get the nomination. In fact, I have never voted for a president, because I believed there was no real difference between the GOP and Demsthe establishmentjust the illusion of choice. And, now that this election is proving this to be true, I have only decided to vote because Bernie Sanders (perhaps Trump too?) represents a true choice against the establishment (or put another way... a choice AGAINST KEEPING EVERYTHING THE WAY IT IS.)
What I find unbelievable (and yet again this goes with the idea that there is no real difference between GOP and Dem) is that there are people who can still call themselves democrats who support Hillary Clinton. I will not throw in with people who believe what Hillary Clinton stands for is what this country needs, deserves or represents. I will not throw in with people who believe there is virtue in the conscienceless pursuit of personal gain or profit, people who believe in gaming the world for their personal satisfaction when it includes the unethical, the legal and the illegal, taking advantage of people because "it's just business," or what have you. I will not throw in with people who say "that's the way the game is played," who say "the end justifies the means," people who vote the lesser of two evils, people who only want to vote for people who can win (electability ! call it what you want, that aint voting!) etc., I will not give my vote to a candidate who embodies moral hazard.
So, bernie has coaxed me back to the process, and he has temporarily talked me out of my "Thoreau Justification" for not exercising my right to vote. I can't decide whether I want to be proved wrong or not.
If the democratic party still wants to earn the badge as the political party with a conscience, there is no way Hillary Clinton deserves the nomination. And, if you believe she has American citizens' best interests at heart (as opposed to whose? You might ask.), then wow, just wow. Ask, do you trust her? Ask, would she say just about anything to be president? We have already seen what happens when you elect a wolf in sheep's clothingdon't fall for it twice.
