(29,258 posts)block Bernie. And if crap like this fails, they'll try to use the "super" delegate card or come up will all sorts of odd rules for the convention. No doubt they'll assume it won't come back to bite them because "where else ya gonna go?"
As a rule, states allow parties to make their own rules - if the Democratic party in NH wanted this changed, it would happen. (Unless the Republicans are as afraid of him as the corporate wing of the Democratic party is).
I wonder if they didn't have this law when Hubert Humphrey or Walter Mondale ran neither were registered Democrats as Minnesota does not have party registration. HHH was the sitting Democratic VP at the time so he may have slid by on that but Mondale had not held office for 4 years when he ran - who knows how he might have changed in that time?
