I mean, this was the eventuality that the people would declare their own nominee. Can't have the Peasants calling the shots..not even a majority.

Only in the case of the Democrats this time, it's keeping out the candidate who actually can win in the GE. So it may backfire at some point in time. That's really what the Super Delegates are...the safety net for the Oligarchy.
