So everyone knew that she was not making campaign donations. But, the D of J prosecuted him anyway, causing his already distressed family a new world of hurt. McCain, however, did use his wife's assets for his campaign, even though he took matching funds under McCain Feigngold. He got to pay the money back quietly.
