most of my Facebook friends....though I think Bernie would.
I guess I'll poke around more, get more info first, then post my own testimonial.
I had a local TV station come and interview me when Barack was in the primary; it was great fun.
The news reporter asked me something like, in one or two words, what is your primary reason
for supporting Obama? I thought a moment, then said 'integrity'. (And I still think he has that,
because I saw from the very beginning that to Obama, the most important position was democracy
with a little 'd', not liberalism...a point most everyone else seems to have completely missed...though
that sure is clear by now!) By the way, the reporter almost drooled at my response (not on camera though).
Bernie strikes me as a man of integrity, and as the article says, honesty. I need a list of evidence,
his record, and so forth, to convince others. I have watched him in recent years, but not memorized
what he has done. I prefer to campaign selling my candidate and his ideas, based upon his/her history,
and have just a few savvy points if necessary regarding opponents. But mostly I just like to sell whomever
I am supporting. I think that is all the more important with a relative unknown. Or, to my wider circle
of friends, totally unknown.
I guess I did pretty well doing that for Barack, because I was given a thrill of a lifetime by being invited
to introduce Ted Kennedy when he came here to support Barack for the primaries. I liked the speech I wrote;
I think it was pretty good. Unfortunately, they told me I was going to be on CSPAN just an hour before, and I
was totally unprepared for that! So my delivery wasn't so good... Actually, when they invited me, I thought
they were going to tell me what to say, and it was only about one hour before we went on camera when they
told me that this should be my own words. Since I had been active in the campaign to that point, I had all
my ideas rather firmly in mind. It was a marvelous experience, nerves and all.
