Those are the folks who deserve praise and support, not Pence. I think Biden acknowledged that today with his 'walkback' of his remarks.
People always forget that most voters don't come to the election looking to be part of a campaign team. They bring their particular interests and concerns to the process and hope they get represented by one of these candidates. You lose a great deal of context to their lives when you reduce them to merely part of a horse race, rather than individuals looking to make a difference in their lives by participating.
If Biden wants to fill the 'void' between their aspirations and what should be no man's land for Democrats, he's more than welcome. But it's not a profile in courage to leave Democrats unrepresented while courting people who really don't believe in progressive changes that many desperately want, need, and deserve.
