You're not fooling anyone. It's a dodge, pure and simple. Like I said, whether you're prepared for it, or not, people like me (the reason I took pains describing my motives) will come to this process looking for these politicians to address their particular concerns. That may well be bothersome to you, but you don't rule our worlds. Get a grip on that.

You're incredibly out of touch if you believe most voters are thinking about the details of what we discuss here to the point where talking on DU is 'counterproductive' to the election. DU isn't some sort of remote control to the campaigns.

It's a discussion board, and if you're not prepared for people to object to your candidate without labeling them as 'purists' and the like when you disagree with them, then you are perhaps the irksome thing here you say you abhor.
