If the media turns on him and it works then he will not be seen as the most electable Democrat which takes us back to my original hypothesis:

The only way Joe Biden falters is if Democratic primary voters decide he doesn't have the best chance of deposing the cretin who currently occupies the White House.


The explanation that requires the least elaboration works best.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
