(146,288 posts)He'll poll well enough and raise enough money to be in every debate. Those changes in the rules were done to thin out the candidate pool from the bottom up, not the top down.
The first debates are going to have at least 10 candidates present. What does that mean? Less time for each candidate to make a case. As we get closer to the actual primary elections (or caucuses), most of us will want candidates to be able to speak for longer periods so we can get a good picture of their positions on issues.
So, the idea is to thin down the list so fewer candidates will be on stage. It's not going to affect any who might actually have a chance at becoming the nominee, though. It will just weed out some who have little support to make the debates more useful to voters.
I'm sure Bernie will be on stage, aren't you?
