I'm the same age as the senator, went to public school in the same state, and busing - as a voluntary decision by parents who wanted their children to attend a different school than the one in their neighborhood, for whatever reason - was an issue in my city as much as it was in Oakland.
The possibility of court-ordered and involuntary busing of children AWAY from their neighborhood schools, in districts that were not segregated by law (unlike those in the South), and without parents' approval, which was what was repeatedly in the offing in the 1970s, is the sort of nonsensical policy making that makes people think "the law is an ass."
My understanding is Harris grew up in Berkeley, both her parents were Phds, and she graduated from high school in the wealthiest neighborhood in Montreal.
A member of the Little Rock Nine she is not.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
