(19,365 posts)And Biden+VP are not going to succeed at pulling individual Repuke Senators away from McConnell any better than Obama+Biden did -- which is to say "not at all when doing so made a meaningful difference."
And if anyone wants to object that Biden was talking about more just than the Senate, well working with the "other team" is fucking pointless in the House because you never need more than the simple majority. You either have it, and you get your shit done, or you don't and the other side owns the Speakership and pulls a McTurtle-style maximal-obstructionist act. Does Biden not remember how Boehner and Ryan operated?
If Biden wants to say something conciliatory about Republican *voters*, that would be one thing. Maybe that's a campaign strategy of some kind, to court GOPers who have soured on Trump. But he didn't. He talked about *Capitol Hill*. That means *elected Repukes*, not the people who voted for them.
Biden should stick to explanations of the advantages of a Biden presidency which are based in reality. Calling Congressional GOPers "decent people" is a goddamned lie -- Democratic candidates should leave that behavior to Trump.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
