(10,307 posts)willingness to put country over party, my internal jukebox starts playing "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?".
There were such Republicans once, and at the risk of offending some of DU's keepers-of-the-flame, I'll add that there WERE a lot of them. Decades in the past. Once upon a time. Long ago.
Such Republicans are rare birds there days. They've died, aged out of active politics, or have been primaried by vicious right-wing partisans. I'd say that the overwhelming majority of those old statesmen and stateswomen are buried in cemeteries or are very, very elderly, so old that they are too tired and too infirm to run for office and hold them if the voters do vote for for them. If there are still-vigorous, bipartisan, patriotic Republican Methuselahs out there, I haven't heard of them.
When in doubt, VOTE THEM OUT!!!
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
