In reply to the discussion: Only a Biden nomination will allow us to take back the Senate too [View all]PatrickforO
(15,329 posts)Yesterday, I went to my Uncle R's 100th birthday party.
Spoke to a number of family members I rarely see, and who I know to be independent voters, and a couple whom I knew to have voted for Trump in '16.
With the exception of one cousin, they were all disgusted with Trump, thought Biden too old (sorry, but that's what four of them actually said), and expressed support for either Warren or Harris. Seriously.
I think Biden's support is soft. We'll see how he does in the early states, but we should DEFINITELY not be afraid of running Warren or Harris. And, as you point out, Warren is quite effective at explaining complex issues to uninformed people, clearly and compellingly.
Anyway, I have long rejected the argument that people are too stupid to understand complex issues. That 'stupidity' is actually being uninformed because of incomplete reporting by corporate media and the deterioration of our K-12 system due to corporate meddling disguised as 'concerned Christianity.' Explain a complex issue to them and most can actually 'get' it.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
