(12,046 posts)Praising a historical figure who was a famous worker's rights advocate, the 1st woman cabinet member, and gets credited for implementing significant parts of the FDR's New Deal despite the fact that she commented on the Brown vs Board decision in a racist way is just like bragging about working personally with segregationists in Congress. Right. You are talking about a conversation about a person from a different historical era and comparing that to a discussion of his own political career that Joe Biden used to illustrate his history of working across the aisle.
How about this:
"As one of our Founding Fathers, the person who drafted our Declaration of Independence, somebody who not only was an extraordinary political leader but also one of our great scientific and cultural leaders, Thomas Jefferson represents whats best in America."
That's Barack Obama talking about Thomas Jefferson who owned slaves.
The article you present shows a lack of historical understanding. That or its just disingenuous.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
