in modern democracies, social democratic reform parties advocate policies like universal healthcare, universal education, universal old age pensions, and regulation of markets.
Many of the modern social democratic reform parties refer to themselves as 'democratic socialists'. You can be pedantic and claim that a universal old age pension system is not a socialist policy, I don't know why you find that to be important, unless you have some irrational aversion to the word 'social'. Odd that our universal old age pensions system is called 'social security' though, huh?
