There is no way the majority, even moderate Democrats, would agree to laws that cap how much one can earn.

But like a lot of good ideas, if it were instantly the reality, like Samantha of Bewitched wiggled her nose to make it happen, it would probably make for a healthier happier society. And more room at the bottom for entrepreneurs to enter business and compete with new ideas. If there were a law that anything over a billion would go to charity. Or to increase pay of your workers or something.

Just like universal single payer medicare. If it were instantly implemented, Americans would realize its the superior, and more importantly less costly option. Any "socialist!" propaganda would be forgotten. And like it is for other countries, it would be one of their most cherished institutions. Remember the London Olympics opening show?...the long opening tribute to their National Health Service? That must have been confusing for a lot of Americans.

Its getting there. The RW will never back off. It will be unrelenting attacks if Democrats ever got all three houses and implemented single payer. And every little snafu (like the web problems in the early days of the ACA) will be pounced upon and made into mountains. And when Republicans eventually got back into power, they'd try and dismantle it immediately. But it doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
