After this go round (so starting in 2028), no more initial mid to late septuagenarians (and thus mid to late octogenarians at terms end) POTUS's. Is is soon time for the Boomers to sail off into the POTUS sunset. Warren, if she ran and won in 2028, would be within 2 and a half years of 90 years old at the end of her terms. Harris in 2028 is fine, but Harris in 2036 (or later), nope sorry. She would be at least 80 as well then at the end of her terms if she ran in 2036 or later. If Sen Harris wins NOW, in 2020, she will be the oldest first time sworn-in Democratic POTUS since Harry Truman. Before Truman, the next Dem older-than-Harris new first time POTUS elect was James Buchanan, the POTUS right before Lincoln. The only other one in history older when first elected/ or sworn in was the first Dem POTUS ever, Andrew Jackson elected in 1828.
Most bizarre POTUS factoid ever: John Tyler, Harrison's VP who became POTUS in 1841 when Harrison died, was born in 1790, and
still has two living GRANDSONS.
Boomers have already has almost 30 straight years at the wheel, I do not want it to be approaching 50 (or even longer as I will show below) straight years (Biden is technically a Silent Gen by 3 years and a month or so, so even older). No one generation is entitled to that long of a power run. IF Harris or someone very, very near her age ran and won at around a 2020 Bernie or a Warren 2028 age, we could, in theory, have (again with a blip for the even older near-Boomer Biden) non stop Boomer POTUS's from 1992 to 2052. That is 60 years! Just NO. Many millions of the older Gen Xers would be dead before they ever got to live under a younger than the Boomer gen POTUS in their entire lives. Hell, if that crazy string till 2052 actually happened, the oldest MILLENNIALS would be in their very early SEVENTIES before they got to do the same. I am 23 (right on the Millennial/Gen Z border), and my entire life until I was 57 years old would be under Boomer POTUS's (plus Biden) if that happened (and there are plenty of Rethug Boomers who will run too). Even the oldest Gen Alphas (post 2010 and onward born) would bloody be in their early 40's in that scenario. NO NO NO That is NOT ageism, it is simple multi-generational power equity.
