The media constantly underplays the broad base of support he is capable of stitching together in the General Election. This year solid Democratic voters will be loyal to the Democratic candidate, be it Biden or Bloomberg, or Warren or Sanders, because solid Democratic voters will do whatever is needed to get Trump out of office.

That means the overwhelming majority of Democratic Sanders supporters would vote for billionaire Bloomberg if need be and the overwhelming majority of Democratic moderates would vote for Sanders if need be. The difference is who can bring in the most not solidly Democratic votes. There is polling that indicates that person may be Sanders, especially when one figures in the fact that a Sanders candidacy is most likely to bring out young voters who are more difficult to motivate to show up at the polls..
