Showing Original Post only (View all)The "movie line" Biden used is one HE GOT FROM HIS BROTHER [View all]
That seems to have been overlooked in all the shrieking and outrage about the line.
Ir's apparent from what Biden said when he used this line in 2018 that his source for the line is his brother, and his brother told him where the line came from, and Biden believed him.
Biden himself didn't hear the line in any movie.
https://slate.com/culture/2020/02/joe-biden-dog-faced-pony-soldier-john-wayne-tyrone-power.html
Later, Bidens spokespeople said the line was taken from a scene in a John Wayne movie in which a Native American chief refers to Wayne as a lying, dog-faced pony soldier. Biden has used the phrase, and attributed it to a John Wayne movie, in the past; at a 2018 campaign event for Heidi Heitkamp, Biden said the following about Heitkamps opponent Kevin Cramer:
Theres video of that, too:

As my brother who loves to use lines from movies, from John Wayne movies, theres a line in a movie, a John Wayne movie where an Indian chief turns to John Wayne and says, This is a lying, dog-faced pony soldier.
Theres video of that, too:

So.
Biden's brother got a line from a movie wrong.
Now, we could argue all day over HOW Biden's brother got the line wrong.
But we don't even know how old Biden's brother was at the time. Or how long after seeing some film he thought he'd heard that line in he crystallized it into what is obviously an incorrect quote. (Incorrect because pony soldiers would refer to cavalry, while dog faces refers to infantry soldiers of a later period, World War II, according to Wikipedia.)
People misremember movie lines ALL THE TIME:
https://www.wescreenplay.com/blog/top-20-misquoted-movie-lines/
My guess is that Biden's brother scrambled memories of more than one film, creating that line in his own mind.
And probably he thought it was a funny insult, and he probably used it a lot on people around him, including Biden.
And Biden picked it up from him, and believed him about where the line came from.
And yes, Biden should stop using that line, even as a joke.
But once you know that he got the line FROM HIS BROTHER, the line being mistakenly attributed to a John Wayne film becomes more understandable.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

Regardless of the source. It's another rookie mistake by Joe. This should be easy:
