(1,568 posts)However, that doesn't change what I said in my post above, and it also doesn't change common terminology used for someone who bases their vote on something such as abortion.
I also find that it's not uncommon for people to not maintain consistency across the board. They might be like "I support blah blah blah except in the case of bleh bleh bleh because I blah blah" It's actually usually not stated in such a clear cut way, but when you break it down that is how it works out. As frustrating as that can be and as much debate it may spark between you and that person, in the end I think we all benefit if we don't reject them over that disagreement. Not only will we be losing a vote, or perhaps giving the republicans an extra vote, but we also lose our chance to maybe convince that person to view the issue differently. By letting them in we are ensuring that women are endowed with the same rights as men, because their inclusion means their vote will go toward pro-choice democrat such as Klobuchar. Whereas if we leave them out, then their votes either go uncast or they go to an anti-choice republican.
Do you think as whole it would be better to reject those people? If so, why do you think that's the better strategy? If something else, how do you think such situation should be handled?
