Any realistic assessment will conclude that everything is at stake. All could be lost. Much already is. Do you think shit is bad now???? Me too! But if this autocrat is reelected because so many of our friends are willing to strap themselves to the hull of the good ship USS Idealism, say goodbye to whatever remains of this country.

Most certainly, idealism has its place. However, for idealism to bear fruit it must be tempered by an abiding sense of reason. For the moment I've set my idealism aside for the sake of reason, while clinging to a vestige of optimism that holds that we can and MUST win to have any opportunity to restore the damage done and make progress.
