No shit. I learned that right here on DU today. And here I always thought racism was unconditionally bad and inexcusable, especially amongst the wealthy and powerful who have the ability to project their racism on the institutions they influence.
Worse yet, I always assumed our party was party of anti-racism. But here many of us are today, making excuses and even defending the across-the-board racism of someone because he (very recently) became "one of ours".
I never thought I'd ever say this, but perhaps our tent is becoming a little too big. Once we start excusing racism, misogyny and classism within our party, what do really stand for at that point?
