83. I've seen that in her, and my first instinct

is to recoil from it. But I’ve been saying we need someone who will fight back and fight dirty and I think we goddamn need a Dem with a mean streak. It is a natural trait for Dems to be turned off by meanness, but we have to fight fire with fire. For this go’round, I embrace the mean streak. We’ve got to give as good as we’re getting from the playground bullies and speak to them in the only way they understand. They laugh at compassion, reason and understanding. I say “Go, Amy” and be an unmitigated bitch.

Edited to add: I saw her on Real Time last week, and she would not shut up. Or, to look at it from another point of view - Bill tried to talk over her and she wasn’t having it. And my reaction was to dislike her for it. And then I remembered she’s exactly what I’ve been asking for, for years, and I made the conscious decision to support her and that quality about her that I don’t like. For once we need that person who’s kind of an asshole, but takes no shit - and she’s on our side.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
