Dont get me wrong, our Australian healthcare system is a little more complicated than I i laid out in my original post.
Here we have private insurance, but its a completely voluntary thing where if you have extra money and want better care (mostly that just means a nice room to yourself in a hospital and maybe faster treatment for elective surgery etc), if you want it you go to a company and buy it.
But at a minimum, at the very least, absolutely any citizen here that requires healthcare treatment can either go to a hospital or a doctor and get it under what we call Medicare card, basically a card we are all issued which we present to hospital or doctor and it gets charged on behalf of government paying.
Depending on your wage, you may be subjected to a Medicare limit when visiting doctors and prescriptions etc and may have to pay more beyond a certain limit.
But when it comes to essential procedures for health, all costs are covered by the hospitals who are funded by the government.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
