(3,363 posts)The closest person to her policies is Bernie, which leaves him as the best option. I'm not a fan of some of his populist style rhetoric, but then I also understand lots of people on both sides of the aisle are tired of the status quo and the career politicians who keep protecting corporations and donors at the expense of everyone else. So I can see why Bernie's anti-establishment rhetoric resonates. It worked for Trump, and seems to be working for Bernie.
Maybe the only way to beat a right-wing populist is with a left-wing populist? No Moderate/Centrist has won the GE this century. I'm not sure that's the best option to beat Trump, but what do I know. I just want Trump gone and I don't care how it's achieved. If Bernie can get the 50% that didn't vote in 2016 to vote this time, maybe things will change.
