(31,261 posts)It ended very badly for us. McGovern was the ultimate dream of leftists. The flames of his defeat are still searing us today.
The "woke" people of today will find out the hard way that American life isn't a black and white affair, there are many shades of grey that are real and though the "woke" people deny that they exist, those shades of grey will still apply themselves, with very bad results for us.
Nixon at least had grudging respect for the rule of law, Trump does not. If Trump gets reelected easily, we are in unchartered waters that will be very dangerous for democracy.
I never thought that I would consider leaving this country, but the reality is it can become something that I can't abide. So I am thinking about Central Europe or Canada as a landing spot, Europe because it is largely the EU, so intellectual property stuff that I have would be applied internationally, except the US, but if I leave and help my family leave, people in the US would have to fend for themselves.
