(54,791 posts)shoot for keeping Sanders under 1600 (roughly 40%) and coalescing around Biden to get him up to point where Superdelegates and the addition of Pete and Amy and Bloomberg delegates puts him over the top on the 2nd (or more) ballot.
If Bernie has over 40% or more of the delegates and no one else is within 10 or 15 points, and THEN he is denied the nomination, all hell will break loose, and if he is at 45, 47% and denied, I am afraid he may do something crazy like run on an indy or 3rd party ticket. Even if he doesn't, many of his millions of voters will lose their minds and defect.
It is still far too murky to make it all out yet, BUT, at thsi point, Rump and Putin surely must be doing a dance, say a Moscow Minuet.
Biden really needs to win big in SC, and he also needs to avoid things like this:
