(51,952 posts)with groups that support him, they represent people that the Democrats failed to connect with, and they failed to do so at their own expense. And many of those people do not look like Chris Mathews.
As I see it, the Democratic party has been creeping away from its original base of support for decades and Bernie is capitalizing on that oversight.
Sometimes I think that the concept of the two party system is harder for Democrats to pull off than it is for Republicans. It's like we have been following our own concept of trickle-down, which fails to reach the people at the lower pay base, and young people who see the gauntlet they have to run to get to the top and have seen opportunities close and problems, like environment and deficits, grow.
God, though, if Bernie wins, please let him be the real thing. In other words, if I discover he turns out to be a puppet for Russia my head will explode.
