Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Rachel: Is Obama part of the Democratic establishment? Bernie: No [View all]patphil
(9,233 posts)24. The problem is that Bernie is running against the Democratic Establishment...
and that includes a strong majority of all Democrats.
He needs to open up the flaps of his tent a bit and stop with the anti-establishment rhetoric.
He could just as easily hold all the positions he now does, but not make it an us vs them proposition.
I realize he is charging up his base, but the price may be too big to pay in November.
It's going to take all of the Democratic voters to get the job done. I don't want to see a group of disgruntled, sour-grape voters staying home rather than vote for the guy who took their guy down in the Democratic nomination process.
The stakes are far too high for that kind of stuff.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

Well said. It's his typical sweeping statements, and NO ONE challenges him on it.

Bernie and Barack - like Thelma and Louise, just two outsiders taking on "the Man"

Yes, he's running within the Democratic establishment structure as a non-Democrat.

So I go to the bottom of responses and say that Bernie has more to do with FDR than most.

Sanders doesn't get to define who any establishment is so the last sentence makes no sense.

Making up one's own definition is not "fact", it's creative, it's imaginative, it's hip...
