(10,500 posts)Using that metric, HRC did 27 public rallies, Bernie did 39. But she also did large numbers of fundraisers, to help Obama cover the airwaves more thoroughly. And she did appearances before various interest groups, which helped organize support around Obama, and were also publicly covered on television. Her total number of events for Obama was in the high 50s, I believe.
And, of course, there is more to take into account than the number of events that each candidate attended. Upon dropping out of the race, Hillary famously asked her supporters to work as hard to elect Obama as they would have for her. And she delivered a rousing speech for him at the Democratic convention. She also was a lot more excited in helping to build up a narrative about what a great president he would be, while Bernie did not exactly describe electing Hillary as a great opportunity for the country.
Hillary's rousing support for Obama in 2008 was such a huge story at the time, and it continued to be talked about for many years thereafter. It amazes me that this has been so easily forgotten. That says a lot about the era that we are living in.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
