Secret Service shoots man in overnight 'armed confrontation' near White House

A man who was brandishing a firearm in Washington, D.C., was shot by Secret Service officers near the White House on Sunday morning, the Secret Service said.

The man, who is thought to have travelled from Indiana, had been flagged to the Secret Service by local police as a potential suicide risk, according to the agency. Officials came across the man's car, and found him nearby with a firearm, when an armed confrontation ensued, the Secret Service said.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital, and his condition is so far unknown. No Secret Service personnel are thought to have been harmed.

President Donald Trump was at his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, at the time of the shooting.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (7News) — On Thursday, a man accused of attempting to carry out a mass shooting at a Prince William County, Virginia mega-church was convicted after a four-day trial in federal court.

Hours later, the jury found Jiang guilty of attempting to obstruct the congregants of a church in the free exercise of their religious beliefs.

Forty-eight hours before he visited Sunday service with a loaded gun and ammo in his pocket, prosecutors said Jiang took a series of steps to carry out a shooting.

Mysteriously, seven top executives have all left in the past three weeks, several of whom had all been there more than a decade. None of them will explain on the record why they left.

The last remaining lawyer at ActBlue’s general counsel’s office has been locked out of his email and put on leave after sending internal messages that “we have Whistleblower Policies for a reason.”

Two unions representing ActBlue employees are openly questioning the group’s stability and call the situation “alarming.” They’re demanding the hiring of an independent investigator.
